NSI is a polish quartet formed by four talented and energetic musicians who are passionate about playing acoustic jazz. The band has its own style a combination of traditional and modern approach to  acoustic jazz. When you hear them playing you get an idea how powerful acoustic jazz can be.

It all started in 2012 when a trumpeter Cyprian Baszyński and a saxophonist Bartek Prucnal decided to join forces. Their first album “Introducing” has been recognized by critics and it was acknowledged as the debut of 2013 by some of them. Furthemore, their music was enthusiastically welcomed by some of the greatest musicians of the world’s jazz scene such as Kenny Garret, Walter Smith III, John Betch, Leszek Możdżer, Darek Oleszkiewicz and Piotr Wojtasik.

Their second album – The Look of Cobra (2017) grows on and fulfils the previously established artistic concept of the group. This time the musicians decided to extend on the formula of an acoustic jazz quartet with no piano and in­vited an extraordinary guest to record some of the pieces – Dominik Wania, incredibly talented, award-winning pianist, with great erudition and unspoilt imagination. In NSI Quartet’s music we can find a wide range of musical inspirations – from classical 50’s and 60’s Jazz, through Latin American rhythms, modern dance music influences, to improvised dialogs verging on styles of ethnic music or even the avant-garde. Band members say about themselves “What you can hear in our music are inspirations adorned with our own reflections and our own language”.

Energetic, strong sound, full of improvisations and mutual interaction but not lacking mellow moments, when you can forget yourself in mesmerizing, romantic melodies – these are for definite the most characteristic parts of NSI Quarter’s style. The music is full of wonderful colours and shades. One simply can’t ignore it.

The band won many awards at international jazz contests: 36th Jazz Juniors Competition (2012), V Azoty Tarnów International Jazz Contest (2012), 39th The Key to Career organized within Gorzow Jazz Celebrations (2013), 50th Jazz Personality Competition organized within international Jazz on the Odra festival (2014). NSI Quartet also performed at many festivals: Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa 2013, Młyn Jazz Festiwal 2013, 6th Grupa Azoty Jazz Contest Tarnów 2013, Jazz Juniors 2013, Gorzow Jazz Celebrations 2014, Summer Jazz Festival at Piwnica Pod Baranami 2014, 2015,  Hanza Jazz Festival 2014, Old and Young – Jazz in Cracow 2015, Zone of Silence Music Festival 2015, Jazz in the Ruins Festival 2015, JAZZtochowa Festival 2015, Jazz on the Odra 2015 (Leszek Możdżer invited the band to play together on stage).
