DESCRIPTION:Maciek Pysz – guitar\nMateusz Pałka – piano\nPiotr Południak – double bass\nMax Olszewski – drums \n*tickets:  40/45 pln \n \n\nOriginally from Poland but living in the UK since 2003\, later in France\, Maciek Pysz is a guitarist and composer known for his clear lyrical phrasing\, his virtuosity\, and his imaginative cinematic compositions. To date\, he has released three albums as a leader\, three as co-leader and has participated on six albums as a sideman.  He has worked with musicians such as Richard Galliano\, Daniele di Bonaventura\, Tim Garland\, Ola Onabule\, Francois Arnaud\, Ivo Neame\, Asaf Sirkis and Yuri Goloubev to name a few and has appeared in festivals (e.g. London Jazz Festival\, Brecon Jazz Festival) and clubs (e.g. Pizza Express Jazz Club\, Vortex) in the UK\, Poland\, France\, and Italy. Maciek released a duo album “Coming Home” (Caligola Records) with ECM artist Daniele di Bonaventura in October 2017. He tours widely with Inwardness\, a trio from France\, appearing at festivals in Europe and at Manchester Jazz Festival in 2017. Inwardness released its debut album in May 2018 on a prestigious German label Ozella Music. Pysz released his brand new solo guitar album “A View” in October 2019  (Caligola Records). The album received praise from critic John Arnett (London Jazz News) “If you find yourself in need of something uplifting and tranquil at the moment – and who doesn’t – this could be the very thing. Highly recommended!”.\n\n\n\n\nHis debut album “Insight” (33Jazz) features Yuri Goloubev and Asaf Sirkis\, and ECM artist Daniele di Bonaventura appears on his second album\, “A Journey.” This album\, released on Dot Time Records\, received several 4-star reviews\, including one from Ian Mann who wrote: “Pysz is a quiet virtuoso who has developed into one of the most distinctive guitarists around”. In May 2017 he released a duo album London Stories (33Jazz) with guitarist Gianluca Corona which received a 5-star review from Lance Liddle “There won’t be many if any\, better guitar albums either side of the Atlantic this year.” ***** \nPysz has toured the UK on major funded tours to support the release of his albums and received a Grant for the Arts from Arts Council England on four occasions\, and Jazz Services awards for recording and touring. \nOf his live performances\, one critic referred to the “refreshingly clean\, quicksilver beauty of Maciek Pysz’s guitar”. As well as being a leader of his own groups\, Pysz works with many artists in the UK and Europe including the Julian Costello Quartet. DESCRIPTION:Groovosophers concerts are a musical journey through groove\, trance and expression – a perfect proposition for both jazz lovers and open improvised music lovers. The band feels at home on both club stages and outdoor festivals. \nTomasz Karaszewski – sax\nFilip Goddard Wyrwa – guitar\nGrzegorz Madej – Hammond organ\nMarcin Essen – bass\nGrzegorz Bauer – drums \n*tickets: 45/50 pln \n \nThe Groovosophers band was formed in Krakow in March 2023\, continuing the tradition of the Goddard Quartet/Quintet band\, founded in 1997 at jazz workshops in Chodziez (first lineup: Filip Goddard Wyrwa – guitar\, Tomasz Karaszewski – saxophone\, Blazej Chochorowski – bass\, Sebastian Perlowski). Goddard Quartet band recorded three demo albums and participated in the recording of an album by vocalist Robert Gałuszczynski\, Patrycja Gola and Irena Kijewska\, performed in clubs in many Polish cities and at the Jazz nad Odra festival in 1998 as well as was awarded with first place in the instrumental bands category at the festival in Proszowice in 1999). \nAt a concert of the Hammond Quartet in January 2023\, Filip Wyrwa met with Grzegorz Madej (with whom he had the pleasure of performing in 2019 and 2021) and they spoke about playing together. One phone call later\, Tomasz Karaszewski on saxophones joined the band (a graduate of the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice). Filip Wyrwa also called Filip Kuźminski\, with whom he played in the Xposure band between 2013-2017. The last unknown was the drummer’s stool. At the Czarno Białe Ślady (part of the Polish cult Republika’s band past members tour) concert in Kraków\, he told Grzegorz Bauer about the idea of returning to playing jazz/fusion music. Filip and Grzegorz Bauer played together between‑ 2009-2012 in Twelve Moons\, and in 2021 they recorded an album Light Entanglement Machine with keyboardist Przemek Piekarz (the album was honored with the award for the best progressive phonographic release of 2021 by a Polish artist). \nIn November 2023\, Filip Kuzminski was replaced on bass guitar by Marcin Essen (known\, among others\, from Another Pink Floyd). \nAfter 20 years and 11 days since the last concert of the Goddard Quartet\, we move to 2023\, in which\, under a new banner and with a renewed line-up (with Hammond organ!)\, the Groovosophers band started working on original compositions\, also known from the repertoire of the Goddard band and jazz and fusion music standards in original arrangements (from the repertoire of artists such as John Scofield\, Chick Corea\, John Coltrane\, Pat Metheny and Jimmy Smith). \n​In August 2024\, 4/5 of the Groovosophers took a part in Another Paradise project playing music of Phil Collins and Genesis. \n​The band is playing energetic concerts in Polish jazz clubs and twice played at the Night of the Museum events at Pieskowa Skała Castle. In September 2024\, the band also played as the headliner of the 8th Hammond Festival in Kielce at Hammond Museum as well as on the 6th Biennial International Conference of the Progect Network for Studies of Progressive Rock organised by The Krzyszto Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków\, University of Oxford\, UK\, University of Rochester\, USA\, Solent University\, UK and University of Ottawa\, CA. \n \n \nhttps://www.facebook.com/Groovosophers \n
