The band established by Bartosz Dworak-the leader, in 2010, in Katowice, after the musicians have met at Katowice Music Academy. The band members have changed in the spell of three years. At present, apart from brothers Bartosz and Jakub, the band consists of pianist – Piotr Matusik, drummer – Szymon Madej.
The main aim of the band is fully acoustic sound as well as synthesis of tradition and modernity. The main repertoire of the band are own compositions, with subtle sway of Polish folk music. They also perform own arrangements of known jazz standards, with their unique and original sound. Bartosz Dworak Quartet was awarded a distinction on the 6-th “Grupa Azoty Jazz Contest” in Tarnow. The band is a winner of Grand Prix of the 37-th Jazz Juniors Festival In Cracow.

BARTOSZ DWORAK – born in Dabrowa Tarnowska, on 11.04.1988. Violinist, composer. He began his music education at the age of 6. In 2013 he graduated from the academy of music in Katowice, under leadership of Dr. Henryk Gembalski. Since 2007 -he has been co working with Witkacy Theatre in Zakopane. He feels great playing versatile types of music. This enables him to participate in many various from stylistic point of view projects. Co-founder of jazz fusion quartet “Sandwich On the Floor”. Since 2012 he has been a member of Klezzmates group (jazz, klezmer, world music).
His achievements are: 1-st Prize in soloist category at Tarnow J C 2011, Prize for “Originality” at Tarnow Jazz Contest 2012. He has been a finalist at Bielska Zadymka 2013, along with Sandwich on the Floor formation. He was honoured to play with well known Polish artists such as Stanislaw Sojka, Kayah.

PIOTR MATUSIK – born on 5.06.1991 in Bielsko -Biala. Pianist, composer. He has been playing grand piano and key board instruments since 15 years. He started his music education at the age of 8. Currently, he is a piano student at Jazz Faculty at Music Academy in Katowice, under leadership of prof. Wojciech Niedziela. Along with Matusik’s trio named MDM, they won 2nd award at International Jazz Contest 2011, 3-rd award at Krokus Jazz Festival 2013 as well as distinction at International Contest of Jazz Improvisation in Katowice, 2010. At present, he is participating in many musical projects: MDM (acoustic jazz), Matusik & Ghostman duet (alternative, electronic music), Familia Fuerte (acoustic Cuban salsa), Energy Band (big band), “Jazzbnieci Frazeusze” Quartet (electronic music). Up until now he has been co performing with well known Polish artists and formations such as Krystyna Pronko, Andy Middletone, Victor Mendoza, Alicja Majewska, Stanislaw Tym, Larry Livingston, De Nuevo band and Polish Theatre in Bielsko-Biala.

JAKUB DWORAK – born 01.06.1991 in Dabrowa Tarnowska. Double bassist and bass guitarist, composer. Started music education at the age of 6. Started playing on the bass at the age of 14. Currently – student at Jazz Faculty of Music Academy in Katowice, under leadership of Dr Adam Kowalewski. Winner of multiple prizes such as: 2-nd Prize at Tarnow Jazz Contest 2011 along with MDM formation, laureate of Jazz Zadymka in 2012, along with Matelusz Walach Big Band, First Prize at Polish Overview of Young Jazz and Blues Bands at Gdynski Sax Club 2013 along with Pernal Szkil Quartet, 3-rd Prize at Krokus Jazz Festival 2013 along with MDM Trio formation, Individual Prize at Krokus Jazz Festival 2013, “Key to the career”
Prize in Gorzow city, along with N.S.I. formation 2013, 3-rd Prize at Tarnow Jazz Contest 2013 along with Szczypka/Kaletka Quartet. Co performed with many of Polish known artists such as: Lora Szafran, Urszula Dudziak, Krystyna Pronko, Piotr Baron, Piotr Wylezol, Arek Skolik and Cezary Paciorek.

SZYMON MADEJ – born on 22.08.1991 in Cracow. Very talented and versatile drummer. His adventure with music started when he was 7 years old, when he began violin lessons. Currently he is a student at Faculty of Jazz and Entertainment Music in Katowice, under the leadership of Dr Adam Buczek.
Szymon is a member of Lichtanski Sound band and F.O.U.R.S band and many others. Winner of multiple prizes at various festivals such as: Tarnow Jazz Contest 2011(2-nd Prize along with MDM Trio), Bielska Zadymka 2013 (Grand Prix along with Lichtanski Sound Lab as well as individual prize), Krokus Jazz Festival 2013. He was privilidged to perform with artists such as: Andy Middleton, Victor Mendoza, Rafael Alcala, Edilson Sanchez, Peter Francis, Gerald T.Smith, Ted Pearce, Colin Vassel, Piotr Wojtasik, Grzegorz Nagorski, Piotr Baron.
