The band Maciej Kitajewski Trio was founded in 2020 on the initiative of the double bass player Maciej Kitajewski. It is a piano jazz trio, which, apart from the leader, includes Franciszek Raczkowski (piano) and Szymon Madej (drums). In January 2021, they won the “Jazz Phonographic Debut” competition by the Institute of Music and Dance, which resulted in the album “Longing Miniatures”.

The album contains eight tracks: six original compositions by the leader and two arrangements of compositions by other authors. The music is mainly inspired by European jazz and classical music. The pieces follow the convention of simple, minimalist themes contrasting with the free improvisations of each of the members of the trio. The songs were created in a difficult pandemic period, when the whole art world had to wait for the virus to end, hence the title of the album “Longing Miniatures”.
