WOJTEK PILICHOWSKI

BASSIST, COMPOSER, MUSIC PRODUCER

He recorded his first solo album in 1994. Since then, 18 solo albums have been released, including Pilichowski Band Live concert releases on DVD. The total circulation of all albums has exceeded 100,000 copies.

In 2017, the artist celebrated 25 years of creative work, which resulted in the release of the live album “25 Koncert w Trójce”. On stage, among the guests, performed: Kasia Kowalska, Natalia Kukulska, Jan Borysewicz, and the band Woobie Doobie (Olszak, Grymuza, Nowakowski, Pilichowski, Dąbrówka).

Since the beginning of his work as a musician, he very often plays in other artists’ projects. As a session musician, he has recorded over 200 albums, and their total sales amount to over 6 million copies. Together with the supergroup Woobie Doobie, he cooperated with the leaders of the Polish pop scene. His sound can be heard on hundreds of albums released over the last three decades. Pilichowski is also the co-founder of the Polish instrumental jazz-rock trio – TTR2.

For many years, Wojtek has been invited around the world to all the major festivals, including Bass Player Live New York and Los Angeles, Euro Bass Days Verona, UK Bass Day, Java Jazz Festival, Open Jazz Fest, Klaipeda Jazz FesDval. He gave concerts in many cities of the world. He performed in Tokyo, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Vancouver, Astana, Bogota, Santiago, and many others.

In Poland, he has been awarded many prestigious prizes. In total 16 times, he was recognized as the best Polish bass player. Pilichowski was nominated three times for the Polish Phonographic Academy Award. By readers of “Gitara i Bas” magazine, he was chosen the best Polish bass player eight times. He received an award for the Best Rhythm Section in 2001. (Pilichowski, Dąbrówka) and 2003. (Pilichowski, Łosowski). He is a four-time winner of the Play Box award in the bass guitar category by the Polish Radio. Winner of the Guitar Awards 2013 in the category Best Bassist category.

He is the artistic director of the prestigious and biggest Music Workshops in Poland “Muzyczna Owczarnia”, “Wojtek Pilichowski Creative Workshops”, as well as the author of four textbooks and DVDs about the bass guitar. For many years he has been giving music lectures and master classes all over the world.

Wojtek is the leader of two own musical projects: Pilichowski Band and Jericho Brass Collective, which has been expanded with a four-person brass section. The artist can also be heard in solo performances.
